The therapeutic effects of Chaste Tree Berry, have been attributed to its indirect effects on various neurotransmitters and hormones. It seems to affect dopamine, acetylcholine and opioid receptors. Its dopaminergic activity inhibits prolactin release. This inhibition of prolactin release in women seems to normalise defects in the menstrual cycle.
